She is her mother's daughter

Today I placed a happy Kaylin in her swing while I cleaned up the family room a bit. As soon as I turned on the vacuum, she burst into tears.

Sweet Kaylin. My thoughts exactly.

Cake Pops

Last weekend I co-hosted an owl-themed baby shower for a dear friend. For one of the desserts, I made a variety of cake pops. This was the first time I've made character pops, and they didn't turn out too bad! You can see how the pops took over our refrigerator. And, in case you're wondering about the contents of the fridge---I shouldn't ever ever send Josh to the grocery store by himself, but it occasionally happens. Thus, the 3 bottles of sparkling cider. In March.

A few pictures of our sweet one

If Kaylin could throw a gang sign right now, she would. What a thug.

The internet has completely changed future generations. She's already teaching me how to use the computer.

Our little Winnie the Rooh playing in her Pooh Bear walker. I think she likes it!

Check out those gams! Chuuuuubby!

So...I was sitting on the couch, working on the computer and I heard my little baby girl sqwaking in the background. She loves her stuffed lion, Nala. Apparantly Nala got the best of her this time.

Our Goosey Girl

I started this new blog with the intention of keeping it more current, updating the world on our little adventures. As you can see, I've already fallen short. Story of my life. I think I've always been full of good intentions. I hope that doesn't make me shallow.
Yesterday was a tough day for Kayles. She had her 5 month check up where she got another shot. She was brave as usual and took it like a big girl. The significant part of that experience was that, for the first time, I didn't cry! I'm a big girl, too it would seem. Anyway, her doctor suggested I start giving her solids 3x a day now. I had started her on rice cereal last week and it was going ok. So, for lunch I made up some oatmeal and banana for her. She wasn't sure at first, but ended up loving it. She ate her fill and about 2 hours later vomited it all up. Then she vomited again about 20 minutes later. She vomited 2 or 3 more times before going to bed. This doesn't even count the several spit-ups inbetween. My poor baby! She was a wreck. She didn't nurse well that night because she was so exhausted. She woke up a couple times in the wee morning hours needing some milk and some love.
Fortunately she seems to be back to her regular self today.
Here is the latest for those who are interested:

Today

This morning Kaylin woke up at a groan-inducing 5:45am. Call me spoiled, but she usually sleeps till 8. I guess it was her excitement to wish me a happy Birthday. I dunno. She's a clever girl.
Anyway, after her early breakfast, we took a little snooze. On his way back from the gym, Daddy stopped to photograph the Mother-Daughter moment.

After our birthday breakfast as a family, we went to KayRu's check up. Here's the stats:
weight: 11 lb, 5 oz, 10th percentile
length: 22 3/4 inches, 5th percentile

She's a tiny, petite thing. Genetically it makes no sense. Who'da thunk my child would be slight. I'm just glad she's in any percentile.
OK. That's that. Chatty tonight, aren't I?

Happy Valentine's Day

Ruey-Booey

Cutest Purple People Eater ever...

...who is apparently ok with eating burp rags also.

Kaylie recently figured out how to play with the tray on her swing. She lifts it with her foot, drops it, lifts it, drops it. This continues until she falls asleep. Baby cardio.
